UHD Display and Ultra HD Blu-ray Player Settings to Enable Proper HDR Playback

High Dynamic Range (HDR) elevates the 4K Ultra HD viewing experience taking it beyond what was previously possible in the home. While 4K Ultra HD Premium TV’s can delivery deliver superior HDR performance, the feature may not necessarily be enabled directly out of the box. To activate HDR mode on your TV, you may need to go into the TV menu and change settings. The table below provides steps for activating HDR mode on a number of TV models.*

Depending on the other components in your entertainment system (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player, Audio/Visual receiver, sound bar etc.), you may need to adjust the settings on those devices as well. Older A.V. receivers may not pass through an HDR signal. Please consult your owner’s manual to determine your receiver’s HDR capability.

If after adjusting your settings, you cannot confirm that your display is in HDR mode or the picture doesn’t appear to have been improved, you can reset your display to its default settings.

*While these steps are specific to the specific models listed, the same steps may be applicable to different models offered by the same manufacturer. Check this page frequently as the UHDA anticipates adding steps for additional models.
